People represent the lifeblood of any company and sourcing and nurturing talent early contributes to this success. To this end, Continental Tyre South Africa participates in the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) Careers Fair, held this year on the 29th and 30th of July at the NMMU Heinz Betz Hall.
At the Fair, Continental Tyre was aimed to attract students from various disciplines for their graduate placement program. The CTSA stall allowed for interactive engagement with students and showcased project-orientated videos from the company worldwide, including the development of rubber for Adidas sneaker soles to highlighting Continental’s franchise store concept Best Drive.
CTSA graduates and in-service trainees manning the stall focused on the sought after disciplines in the fields of Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical and Industrial Engineering. Students were also encouraged to apply for positions in non-engineering fields such as Marketing, Logistics, Finance and Legal studies.
Continental’s General Tire brand showcased their teaching van, which is used by the marketing department for dealership training and event branding to focus on the product offering in a face to face tactile manner. The vehicle is equipped with touch screens and tutorials on the various products as well as actual product samples to showcase feature differences.
Various stakeholders, including the present graduate/in-service trainees, employees and management participated in the career fair to show students the diversity of the organisation, while appealing to a broader audience. All levels of management attended the Fair, including Managing Director Shaun Uys and members of his executive team.
NMMU students were encouraged to bring their CV’s along and to ask questions related to their fields of study. This year’s theme was “Let your ideas shape the future”. This speaks to the dynamic environment in which Continental Tyres operates and allows employees to contribute to the success of the company.
Continental Tyre South Africa’s seeks to recruit only the best talent and engage with various disciplines to ensure that the company values are consistently upheld and the success of the Fair will be measured by the quality of the recruited 2016 trainees.
